President - William Avery MSc MCIO MIoD
William has been President since the beginning of 2007 and has already been involved in some major changes and activities on behalf of the Institute. He is currently the Managing Director of Castle House (UK) Ltd and Joint Managing Director of Lane Castle Ltd. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors and of the Chartered Institute of Building, is Chairman of the Carpenters' Craft Competition, and sits on the Education Committee of the Carpenters Company. William has over 37 years' experience working with in the property market and its institutions and the construction industry both at corporate level and project specific.
William is married with three children, is a keen amateur musician with a private digital recording studio, a member of the City Chamber Choir and a dedicated house renovator!
Chairman of Council - Trevor Greaves MIOC
Trevor was elected Chairman of Council at the IOC AGM in May 2007. Prior to that he was Vice Chairman. Trevor has been a member since 1996 and is an active member of the Thames Valley Section.
Trevor left school at 15 with a school leaving certificate and went to work for a cabinet making company as an apprentice woodworking machinist whilst attending Huddersfield Tech Collete attaining C & G Advanced Cert in Woodmachinery. He went on to gain C & G Adv Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery. Whilst working for ICI in their joinery workshop his studies continued with FTC and ONC Building subjects and in 1965 went into teacher training at Huddersfield (Hollybank) Teacher Training College (Technical).
His first teaching post was at Croydon Tech College. Self-employed working on a variety of jobs, initially on barns, windmills and old buildings. Part time teacher at Reading College and he is at present teaching the IOC advanced in the evenings. Trevor also runs tool safety courses for schools and has been a consultant for CITB written manuals and involved in workshops with C & G. Interests include involvement with his local church, badminton, cricket and golf. Married to Janet, two children, three grandchildren (who he is a full time grandfather to!).
