Message from IOC President Geoff Rhodes

Posted: Mar 25, 2020

COVID-19 (coronavirus)

IoC members are understandably concerned how the escalating situation surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus) is going to affect themselves and their family, business and workplace, especially in light of the Government’s announcement on Monday 23rd March in which the Prime Minister gave clear instructions and stated the new measures would be enforced where appropriate and necessary.

The best links to access for the most up-to-date information are the governmentNHS Direct and CITB websites. In addition, garages are currently allowed to remain open for MOT testing of cars, motorcycles and light vans although this is currently under review.

Everyone is understandably concerned about the  right steps that they should be taking to manage the current  business risks and the spread of COVID-19. One of our Corporate members, the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) has created a Covid-19 hub, where they have brought together a range of useful resources for the timber industry which you may find helpful at this time.

Please free to contact me at president@instituteofcarpenters.com with any specific questions/concerns or requests for information. If you have access to information that you feel would benefit sharing with the wider IoC community, please send it in.

The IoC head office is now working remotely until any government change is announced.

Stay safe and well.
